To answer the first question: Yes it's a 111 and it was built in April 1999.
Don't know, when they switched from metal plates to plastic decals, may it was with the design change
to the rounded recoil housing (part no 020 112 180, as seen in the last pic) from the older design with straight horizontal
pattern (part no 020 112 170, second pic).
If so, the change occurred in mid 1996.
Thank you. I guess I told you right than in the DM I sent.

My plan was to put the metal (95 year model) tagged recoil housing on the 99 111. But after seeing the the differences in the style iam not sure I want to mix and match parts? I am trying to keep it looking like it did from the factory.

I guess I am in need of a recoil housing for a 99 year 111.

Quite a bit dull here...
I finished some long term projects in the last few weeks, so time for some pics now.

First is a SACHS-DOLMAR 100 of 1985, always thought of wanting one with an old-style cast-alloy muffler.
Then I found all necessary parts to build up a complete saw in my spare-part boxes. Had totally forgotten about
the 1985 engine block and when I ran into it, I decided to build her up again.

Nice one, the only thing not up to overall appearance is the starter cover. Once I'll find a better one, I'll fix that...

Thanks!

And this is the second project: A 120si I started to rebuild in spring 2022, abandonned her in August 2022 because of the enormous amounts of goo and dirt sticking to her body and her overall bad shape. This spring I took her remains out of the cardbox I had dumped her and continued treatment.

Just to give you an idea of the condition she came in:

I have treated parts of the saw with paint remover applied within a closed plastic bag:

After that I did a paint job and rebuilt the clutch cover:

Thanks, guys!

I bet you could open a business restoring saws.
I'd starve to death doing so. All the hours and all the effort put into such a restoration wouldn't pay off.
These are chainsaws, not high-end sports-cars.

Just for times I don't have anything else to do:

neu_top.jpgneu_front_left.jpgneu_right.jpg

I bought a very well preserved PS-401 for very little €. I already had 7 of them before but sold them all, just preferring the non-decomp models.
This one could possibly be a one I'd like to keep with me and join my 5 PS-390 and 1 PS-39.

Another small Dolmar for the approaching autumn evenings to do:

Good shape, pretty clean and minimal scratches on the plastic surfaces. Piston will need replacement but should be in stock (afaik, haven't checked yet).
I like these small DOLMARs, I really do. This one has the Tillotson injector carb and requires a modified starting procedure compared to the Walbros.

I picked up this tidy Dolmar PS6400 the other week and have swapped the Ported 7910 top end, muffler, carb and top covers off my XSDCS6401 across. I used RIT dye to turn the red covers black for the Makita. I prefer the look of the red saws. Will sell the Makita shortly.

Ever heard of a DOLMAR PS-8100 or Makita EA8100?

No? Here she is:

8100_action.jpg

8100_ms.jpg

This is one of 3 or 4 existing prototypes of a saw engineered by DOLMAR in Hamburg which was canceled with Makita's decision to discontinue all petrol powered products. Thus you will neber be able to buy a Makita EA8100 or DOLMAR PS-8100.
Technical specs: 81 cc displacement and strato-charged very similar to the 6100. Was probably intended to replace the 7910...

I have seen her in action and had the pleasure to cut some chips with her: Amazing performer! Pity she has been trashed...

8100+500V.jpg

Here a second one which never made it into production is sitting in front of the 8100: The legendary PS-500V a 50cc 4-stroke chainsaw.
We had two of them in action this weekend:

ps-500v_vs_china-4-stroke.jpg

Left and right two PS-500V and a china 4-stroke saw in the middle, a saw you can actually buy with various brand names. The DOLMARs did about two and a half cuts in the time it took the china-saw to do one.

Everything "outside" of that PS-8100 screams PS-550/EA5600!

We need air filter pictures of the PS-8100!
I know I speak for everyone. :)

Sorry, no inside fotos available.

I know the owner of the prototype and maybe I might take some pics of her "under the hood" later.
But as far as I have understood, the 8100 basically follows the general design introduced with the PS-6100,
that is strato-charged engine with very effective fuel consumption ratio plus some 550/5600 borne details like
the designs of the recoil and sprocket covers. However she is significantly larger than a 550/5600 and even larger
than a 6100
