Now that's a brilliant idea!! Thanks for sharing the story. Looking forward to the rest of the story.

That's a model I would like to pickup sometime.

Maybe. I was under the impression they were only sold in Australia. So finding them anywhere else is rare.
I don’t know if they were sold in Australia or not, but they were certainly sold here. They seem to come up in three’s or spurts whatever. You don’t see them for years and then you see a bunch at once.
I was able to replace the saw I traded to @old_sir_henry in about a week. I made connections thru this forum and got another nice one from a member here.

More to come soon, maybe Jim can add a little bit about the saw's history and why the recoil housing looked dented as it did.
The saw came from the daughter of a timber faller in Oregon. She told me he maintained his saws/equipment as it was used. It was well maintained. In fact the saw is almost unscratched except for damage to the left side of the full wrap, the aft corner of the starter and a tiny mark on air filter cover. She explained it fell from his truck when the latch on it failed and that’s when the damage occurred. Said it broke his heart but he continued to use and care for it. She told me she had recovered all of his equipment and this was the last of it.
I can’t recall the exact timeline as far as when I agreed to the swap and the time it took to replace the Poulan, but it worked pretty nicely for me here. And the 153 I received is just beautiful. I got my saw pretty quick but it was excruciating waiting on @old_sir_henry to receive his.
Like he said it took 6 weeks to receive it.
I do recall refusing to enjoy the 153 until I knew he had received his Poulan 6000.
But, thankfully, it all worked out.

That's good to know. Wish the 118 was that easy to find.

Edit: I'm and idiot!! It just hit me, we are talking about Dolmar made Poulans, not Dolmar made McCullochs. Big difference! That's why in an above post I mentioned Australia ..... Not going to lie. My head might sound hollow if it get nocked!!

There is a Sachs-Dolmar 116 a town over from me, well priced, good condition.
I am tempted to go get her, but I am more reluctant to dive into that era of Dolmar saws considering the difficulties with getting parts for current models.

To my understanding the 116 is 56cc which places her right next to my PS-550 and I really like that saw!

The saw is collectible, was only made one year.
Don't confuse 116 and 116 super. The latter is the one which was interim between 116 and 116si with only about 8000 saws built, 60cc displacement and a Tillotson injection carb.
116 however was a much more traditional model with Walbro HDA carb and 56 cc. However I don't know how long this type remained in production but I think more than only one year, introduced late 1984 or early 1985 and very likely replaced by 116 super in 1987 AFAIK.
In north american markets the saw was sold as "SACHS-DOLMAR Wildcat" for some time.

Thanks for your comments! Here is more on my Poulan 6000.

As @av8or3 wrote the saw had suffered from falling off a truck and regarding the dents probably sliding on tarmac or concrete ground.

Fortunately Jim had included a second starter where the ratchets needed cleaning and fresh lubrication and a single spoke was broken out.

I grinded the remains of the broken spoke away to form small groves into which I epoxied a small patch formed of alu-plate.

I then made a new decal for the starter just see hiw far I get with it. I know there are fine decals available at Sugar Creek Supply and maybe I'll order a set later on but for now, I#m confident with my own product. The replacement spoke is visible on the far left.

Next thing to worry about was the wrap handle. I had 22 mm hose in stock but the handle's tubes are only 20mm diameter so my hose would not fit tight but slide. So I came up with double-walled temperature shrink hose.

I'm pretty satisfied with my result!

Another impression on this impressive saw, a 100cc rascal, have a look at the exhaust pipe, muffler-mod factory installed I'd say and believe me: It sounds like it looks!

And the final result of my efforts:

Isn't she a magnificent beauty? I'm very happy to have this amazing saw here and also to have found a friend on the other side of the big pond.
I'd like to thank Jim (@av8or3) for this great deal we made!

What all saws can you make stickers for?

I have printable files for a couple of DOLMAR and SACHS-DOLMAR stickers. I do them as I need them but I can't do decals
at will. First I need reasonable good samples for design and measurement and then I must convince myself to spend all the time
necessary to do the actual artwork. For the Poulan's starter decal it took me at least 6 hours.
I wouldn't do that for anyone but myself. But then this Poulan sticker with it's custom artwork was kind of a challenge for me

Okay, understood. Beautiful job.

Here’s the latest from my shop. This is 143 #3 to roll out. This saw was completely built from new parts. Even the screws (except for two) are new. Probably the most significant part has to be the Euro spec muffler ! I have @Shane¹ to thank for that. Aslo, a shout goes out to @Jay Hansen for the brand new full wrap! It still has its price in Marks-a-lot on the rear support ($45) .For now, it’s never been gassed, the NEW Tillotson carb is still a few weeks out. “She’s a beaut Clark”! Here’s one last pic showing off the newness under the clutch cover. Can you tell I’m tickled with this saw? LOL
