I don't see why!12,800 limited coils should be illegal!
What work saw will actually hit 12.8k under load?

The saw should be set to optimal/safe rpm in the factory, but variables like altitude and choice of fuel can and will influence the carb tune.
General consensus is to tune the saw under load while making a bucking cut!
The engine should 4-stroke (burble; brap...brap,,,brap) when the load is lifted, but clear up to a continuous tone when loaded (eeeeeeeeeeeee).
I personally tune by tachometer to max engine/coil rpm, this makes these saws run on the rich side when they have a muffler mod.
I am rather safe than sorry.
Also, I tend to switch between 18/20/24/36" bars without re-tuning - the richer tune makes me feel safer when utilizing the 36" B&C setup.
Please keep in mind that the coil limiter only prevents/protects Your saw from OVER REVVING, the coils rpm limiter will not protect Your saw from running too lean as the "in cut" rpm's are considerably lower than the coils max rpm!
This is regarding a factory stock saw with only a muffler mod.
If any of the above is incorrect I am certain someone more knowledgeable than me will chime in and correct me!
Sorry, I never pay attention to how much I turn those carb set screws/needles.Based upon your experince, if I tune the "H" 1/4 counterclockwise in the begining, it is a safe operation?
I think it is.
After retune to 12.600-12.700? It's a good way?
That looks fine, and on this forum there is no muffler mod too big for a saw!Wilhelm,
I made the exhaust outlet larger. But don't you think...is it too large??

Can You still utilize the spark screen?
It will make a little back pressure, and it will keep foreign objects from entering the muffler.
I think Your saw will do good with that mod.
I know my 5100 and 5001 both had them.Which of the Dolmars (Makitas) have catalytic converters on them?
My 6421 was an empty can I believe. That the 421/4300's and the 6400/6401/6421's
I believe it is greatly market dependant.Which of the Dolmars (Makitas) have catalytic converters on them?
Looks good.
Thank you!Looks good.
Did You weld rhe halves back together?
PS-7910- SLRI believe it is greatly market dependant.
My:
PS-5105 - CAT
PS-6400 - bird cage
PS-7300 - bird cage
PS-7310 - SLR tube
PS-7900 - bird cage
I need to check the others.
What is “birdcage” and SLR? I don’t know what they are. Thanks. BTW!I believe it is greatly market dependant.

I believe you are spot on SondreFrom what I can remember about the cats in the mufflers, the PS421 and equivalent Makita models, PS5105 and equivalent Makita models, and DCS6421/newer PS-6400 all have them. Basically the all stainless mufflers have them. Anything with a half stainless/half galvanized, or fully galvanized have been either just baffles, or SLR in the 7310/7910, from what I’ve seen.
The older saws like PS-6400/7300/7900 and DCS6401/7301/7901 did not have them. I could be wrong. It’s happened before. Lol.
