I have a new inhabitant arriving yesterday:

One of the very rare and somewhat obscure 116 super.

The saw apparently is an export version (according to the muffler and the stickers attached), is a little dirty and looks used
but nut worn out.

Especially piston and cylinder do look pretty clean and quite new.

The 116 super is a model where even the factory has little to none information about, according to my pal at Makita-Service Hamburg
(former Dolmar Service) it was an intermediate model between 116 and 116 si, about 8000 items been built.

It is (as far as I can tell) based on the old crankcase of models 117-120 but has the crankshaft of the 116/120si with 36mm stroke,
a modified cylinder of the si (one without the collar at the bottom flange) and the Tillotson injector carb.

It thus is a very interesting and rare collector's item. I'm happy to have found one.

That’s a great and interesting find I wonder if it’s the chassis of the 113- 116
Or 112-120 super. I thought it might have been another version of the 116 wildcat

But it looks like yours has a plastic recoil cover
what ignition has that one got
Also on the chain cover does the part number start 119 or 030

I bought one of those a few years ago from a guy in Ohio. There is no known parts manuals that exist for this model.

@cuttinscott remembers selling one to a local farmer but that saw was in a barn fire.

Sounds like most of them were imported to the US.

I can see hardly any differences between the 122-120 super and the 113-116 chassis, if chassis means crank-case. Clutch side is
interchangeable and magnet might differ by small nuances. It is noticeable however that the 116 super does NOT build on the
116 si -PS-6800i crankcase.
Plastic tank may however been inherited from 113-116, the claims to be a kind of a 116, doesn't she?

BTW. What are the differences between Wildcat and stock 116 other than the label placed on the clutch cover?

I will answer these question when I look this saw through. I definitely plan to carefully document my findings because, as it was noted before:
No information, no part lists, no technical documentation exists at DOLMAR's so this is an unexpected
chance to shed some light on a saw that is mostly unknown and undocumented.

--Edit- The plastic recoil cover is no surprise, all the 112 - 120 have it, even the very early
112 and 114 of the late 1970s.

BTW.
we had a little discussion about the 116 super in german forum motorsaegen-portal.de where some newbie
came up with the quest for Dolmar experts cause he had found a 116 super with a seized piston.
He apparently didn't know there are no experts for a Dolmar 116 super, since that model is more like a fata-morgana than real.
I took the opportunity to ask him a lot of questions about details of his saw but since he was a total newbie
the results were limited. Thus I'm even more happy that I could buy a 116 super because with a hands-on
object, investigation in tech detail is so much easier than relying on other people.

BTW: Shortly after the discussion at motorsaegen-portal.de had settled, another 116 super
appeared in german ebay classifieds, looks like the seller has been following the discussion
or at least has read the topic at
http://wiki.motorsaegen-portal.de/w...C_116_super.2C_117.2C_119.2C_120.2C_120_Super
(I'm the one currently maintaining this page).

This is the link to the classified ad, in case someone is interested:
