I read once about using starting fluid to clean the filters. I use it all the time now, and seems to really get the dirt out of them without ruining them. Open the filters if possible and shoot the ether through the backside to reverse flush the crud out of them. It dries fast and is cheap to use.

This is how I do them.

So true. I guess I'm accustomed to the Jonsered/Husqvarna spin filtration system and I hardly ever need to clean those filters. I'll just wash it a little more often.....

Got to run the 118 last night and was quite pleased. Seemed to starve for fuel after awhile so it’s going to get a new fuel filter this afternoon.

Your 118 seems to have suffered the same crack in the clutch cover than mine did, only yours looks worse:

Got another Dolmar that I’ve never seen before. It reminds me of a small CT. This project came from France so shipping was pretty high. Anxious to get it going for some GTG exercise!

Well I have repaired the crack so you probably have sen the fixed version.

I did grind the crack v-shaped from inside and the epoxied it. Leveled out and sanded the outer surface.

It’s a Model CA. I have the front handle off as it is part of the clutch cover. Made for 12 yrs, 1966 onward. 56 cc. It came with another one for parts, parts saw has the handle mount broken from the crankcase in front.

I got to cut with the CA today. I replaced the fuel lines and a carb kit after I got it to pop a few times with prime. There was a terrible residue in the carb, and the fuel line looked like a wad of black bubble gum in the tank. Chain needs work, but that’s easy. It pulls pretty well, and restarts easily. Off to the Iowa GTG we go!

The CA was very popular amongst professionals in the seventies. It was strong, extremely reliable and
virtually undestructible. Dolmar sold many of them.

A Poulan Micro XXV in SACHS-DOLMAR disguise. The saw is in pretty good shape and I'm optimistic it'll run after some minor treatment.

In the meantime, a second 101 hobby went through my workshop so I think its time to show the results:



Bottom: My first 101, built 1978, notice the hand-shield and the safety lever at the rear handle.
Top: The second 101, built 1976, this one has no safety lever for the throttle and no hand-shield.
Don't know if the early saws came without it or if it simply has gone lost.

Apparently the 024 111 031 bar plate allows for identical chain DL count across the large frame Dolmar's utilizing D009 mount bars.

I have no 9000/9010 nor Stihl bar nor Stihl bar adapter - but I have a bar plate, so You can just send me the saw, bar and adapter and I will try it out for You as a friendly gesture!

I just mounted these bar plates, courtesy of Wilhelm @Wilhelm , on my 9000 and 9010. They were set up with D009 studs in the front mounting holes, which are meant for D033 studs and bars.
On some bars it required funny DL counts. Like 112dl on a 110dl bar, etc.
Now everything fits across the board, and I cut my chains down. This makes everything so much easier.
They fit great with the Stihl adapters too. The slot for the oil lines up perfectly. The studs are spaced differently than the Husky D009 and the Dolmar D009, but the Husky adapter works fine with it.

Edit: Most D009 bars fit with the studs in the forward holes, as the slots are usually pretty long. When you’re using Stihl D025 bars and adapters; having the studs in the rear holes is helpful, as the the slots are often shorter, and the adapters take up a little extra space.
