I guess there was no recall in the states. If I had to guess , if this one ever breaks I will receive the current/updated one for a replacement.

No recall on the brake mechanism/handle in the USA. But they did stop shipment of new saws while they were updated. Either that saw snuck through or was in dealer inventory before the change.

Finished my little red one during the weekend and had it start up this morning:

I had a little problem with the intermediate flange beneath the carb, one edge was broken and missing.


The bore visible there is where the fuel line connects to the flange...


... the elbow connection must be inserted into the bore of the flange. A repair was needed.


With a dremel I removed the remains of an earlier repair attempt from the flange, then fitted a drill into the bore, had that one
coated with silcone grease, and filled up the missing edge with 2-component filling glue.
When the glue had polymerized I planed the surfaces and removed the surplus glue.
Works so far.

I gotta say of the 60cc class saws i have run the 6100 was the strongest of them all. Id like to see makita make a 70cc version with large bar mount

The saw on the left was traded in for that Makita EA5000. Then 6 or 7 weeks later that one was crushed.

Picked up this red top over the weekend and swapped the full wrap from my other 6400 that I’m selling. This red top sure looks nicer then the ones with the black tops.
