I just bought a cheap aftermarket 7900 top end kit for $55 plus shipping from HL Supply. First aftermarket part I've ever bought. I want to do some amateur porting so I figured why not give it a try.
I don't know. Maybe if I was replacing a roached top end. I've heard some of the A/M kits leave a little something to be desired performance wise. I would hate to replace a perfectly good low hour top end with one if it is anemic.

I agree. Mine is toast is the only reason I decided to try it plus I'm going to try some porting.

OEM will give You consistent compatibility, quality and performance.

AM is supposedly all over the place, often requires additional work to fit and/or perform properly.
Also, the BB kit is deemed too large for the saws case volume and doesn't guarantee better performance over the 52mm P&C.

I own a spare OEM NOS PS-7900 P&C kit, no chance I'd risk messing it up by playing with it.
An affordable AM BB kit on the other hand I'd have little remorse frying.

If You have a healthy saw and You are only considering a P&C swap to gain power - go OEM!

I agree with Wilhelm, just having more displacement doesn't guarantee a better performance of the saw, and the volume
of the crankcase is only one factor to take into account.
We had this topic in the german forum couple of weeks ago and most agreed on Dolmar having done a
very good job with the design of the OEM P&C.

Hello.
A couple of pictures of my Dolmars:
Bone stock, and will probably stay so.
1993 Dolmar 109
2017 Dolmar ps-6100h
2014 Dolmar ps-7900h

The rail saw is a Sachs-Dolmar/Robel 343.
Dont know year on this one. Just got it from my boss. Needs a new muffler, but since i have absolutely no use for it, i might just try to weld it.

Also have a 1988 Sachs-Dolmar 111, for the moment in peaces. (To be honest, it has been a looong moment :))
Need a few parts for it, but have not done much to try to find them.

A ps-352 is supposed to arrive here at the end of the week.

Best Regards

I may have a couple of parts for the old 110/111. Just ask!
