Is there anything specific to look for on an Unlimited coil 7900?
To identify a true 7900?

Steve would know. I think they were all red tops. Only 10 or so ever made it across the pond from what I’ve heard. 7900 was made with limited coil to 13.5k up to the 7910. The 6400 still has that coil last time I checked one.

Production started on this series in October 2001. We actually sold production number 12 and 13.

These were 6400's
Serial # 011030012 & 0110 30013

The next lowest serial number we sold was a PS-7300 Serial #011030448.

Not trying to start a war here. But how do the 7900's run against 372xp or a 288xp? Stock to stock or ported to ported. I have 2-288's I'm rebuilding right now. And would like to get a 372xp. I'm just wondering how this saw might fit in my collection or not... please when answering keeping in mind we are not Starting a 2 page debate here....lol

Unlimited coils were never on production models of the 6400/7300/7900 series. I may know where there is an unlimited 7900 coil or two. Don't bother asking me cause I won't tell. [emoji41]

I wish you would give me a hint like a block of area it’s in so I could go door to door LOL

Stock a 7900 is a lot stronger in my 10-15 of them I’ve had around. Ported the 372s can be right with them or ahead. 288s I sell and never had one I really liked. I’d pick the 7900, then 372, and 288 last for saws to actually use.

I haven't ran a 288 but the ported 7910 I ran was the chit!

And I've never seen anyone on this forum say Dolmars suck. They be love by everyone.

Wow, less than 24 hours off and I find almost 2 pages filled with new stuff.

For the 7900, I'd say the saw is extremly homesick and needs to be sent back to its home country,
better yet close to its place of origin ;)... However, different decisions seem to have been made ...

I agree with you I would say PS-39 the PS-33 had a red top

All the models below where sold over here I’ve never seen a PS-342
or a PS380 , PS-390 good little solid saws
I also like the predecessor SD-100 and 100 super

PS-342 is very rare, I haven't seen one either, same goes for PS-380 but the latter at least exist: There was one in ebay.de couple of months back.

PS-390 I currently own 4 of them with 2 being NIB.

And for the SD-100 -- here comes one

sachs-dolmar_100.jpg

this one is a late one, approx 1988 or even later. It has the new style hoods invented with the duplex idle system and WT-174 carbs.
