So I got a parts saw for my Grey and Black poulan 3400.
Mostly complete saw. Missing the clutch cover...... and the clutch...... and the end of the crankshaft, you know, the part the clutch screws onto.
So anyway, turns out its not even a 3400 poulan.:BangHead: Its the next series after that. I'm not even sure what series it is, just know its the one right before the "wild things" came out. Has the "vertical" air filter cover that is separate from the top cover.
Its model # 358.356330.
Ser# 1F1965365.
Any help crossing over?
I'm gonna need another one of these now for parts for this one...:b1:

Like @S Sidwell said Craftsman 3.3. 54cc Don't be discouraged. Those are great saws and easy to work on! Most of the ones in that frame that I have found have good p/c's and only need a carb kit and lines. People would let them sit. The impulse line would get brittle and break off. They would not know where to look to find the problem so would continue to sit. When you decide to clean up pm me on what you need ;) K20-HDA carb kits will work for the HDA49. They are less than 10 bucks

Was thinking on bumping mine up to a 3300 but decided to leave it like the way it came. Has cut many cords with that saw and never let me down when I was running it.

Steve, yours looks brand new! Great looking saw!
I know I'll need a crank for sure. I might get back by the place I got it and at least see if I can find the clutch cover.
Just looked at it last night. Not sure yet how the p&c is, but it does walk down the rope with no bar or clutch, cover on it, so I'll have to get in there to check things out. Has had fuel lines replaced.

Yep Steve hit it on the # and model.
Just check your bore to be sure not changed out. Came in 2.8 3.0 3.3.
I got a 3.0 3.3 on trade I been parting out instead of building.

I prefer the 3.3 over the 3400's myself.

The cylinder PN 530012155 in the sears IPL on your craftsman saw crosses to a Poulan 2800. Bare bore, chrome plated piston.

The bore should be 1.685"

Some of the ipl's are weird and only have one cylinder listed. This one has the other just under . Cylinder part # 530012200. Piston is 46.5mm. Screenshot_20200128-171215.png

That's interesting. I've seen a few on the Sears site that subbed a different cylinder.

What did you plug in to get that IPL? The one you have shows the 358.356330 as being a 3,3

I've got the ipl in my owners manual. Guess I need to scan my manual and save it so I can share it. Mine shows the same as what's posted.

Just had to know exactly what you needed or you got the wrong part. My manual for for Sears 2.3-14 aka 2300av is the same way on some of its ipl part numbers.

The 2.3-14, you could get a thumb lever to adjust the chain tension instead of the regular screw adjuster. I ordered that adjuster and installed it, just had to install a roll pin into the bar for the thumb lever to push against. I finally removed it and installed the screw adjuster back on. Maybe when warm weather kicks back in, I'll search in my barn and see if I can find it and post a picture of it.

Nice! I'm assuming the crank would be different from a 3300 to a 3400 maybe?
I heard chrome plated piston mentioned. Not sure I care for that. Seems like a piston would be cheaper.

3400/3700/4000 and 2800/3000/3300 are completely different saws.

Poulan 3400 manual. IPL in the back.

2 different saw series. 34 older CV. 33 the later. cranks different.

Dont be shy of them. Last forever. Heck the 3400 3800 is same way.

My dad bought his 3300 bare bore with chromed piston in 93-94. When I tore it down after like 26 years it all still looked like new inside.

I now have that saw on the shelf as of last year. He can no longer pull it over.
So cleaned up made sure could go when needed.
