He had it for 65 knocked 10 off . I've chatted with the guy before. They use eBay as a rough guide for pricing. No poulan 4000s listed anywhere so he didn't know what he had... Stated right up. Needs new fuel, adjusted light cleaning a longer bar and should be good to go.

Nice, don't find many at a good bargain price, only from folks that don't know what they are worth.

So the boy was over Saturday night. Was telling me the S25DA I gave him wouldnt start. Then he goes on to extoll the virtues of his 455 Rancher and MS661C that both have primers. I said the old stuff was made for grownups, so I expected him to have trouble(he's 31);)
I went by and picked it up today. "SOMEONE" cross threaded the gas cap. No seal=no positive pressure in fuel system= no worky.
Found a buddy with a spare cap. Had to replace the rotten duckbill. Now it worky.

I have moved alot of those to the locals. Great saws and build. Lot better then them plastic homeowner ranch saws the others sell for 4 times as much.

What's especially fun is when your tuned Wal-Mart Poulan beats their new Stihl homeowner saw that cost twice as much!

Is the Craftsman in this photo a Poulan of some sort? I am in need of a clutch drum with a good sprocket.

Also, I am looking for a good example of a Wild Thing to include in my museum, to go along with my XM40 McCulloch...

That looks like an older model Poulan, like a non strato charge 4218. Should find those cheap.

That Craftsman should be the same as a Poulan 2050 or 2150. Parts for it are dirt cheap new from many places, Oregon 106114 is what you need.

I remember seeing Green Machines trimmers at Kmart when I was a kid.

It was a little broken up when I received it, I made a trade with someone for a parts saw to replace the damaged plastics. 69 cc or so, I fit it with a 20" bar and like to use it when the conditions are not so nice so I don't feel bad about using a good saw on trash.

Thanks Ferguson, I should have one in the attic but things are rather disorganized at the moment. I am looking forward to moving to the museum soon and getting all of the parts sorted out.

I see the deal here, that one was made by IDC/Ryan/Ryobi. Our K-Marts carried the Ryan brand. Those things were made for like 30 years for pretty much every marque under the sun, even firms that made their own OPE and wanted a slice of the homeowner market. Today, MTD makes a direct descendant of it and sells it at Lowe's and TSC.

But I bet the ones MTD make won't last as long. I saw a Ryan when I was hunting this pic and thought it looked mighty familiar.

Dad used to buy those orange kmc trimmers, I've got a orange kmc bench grinder he also bought. Surprisingly it was made in the USA and still runs and still has the plastic water tray. I still have some old tools I've got from there 30 years ago at work.
