How's the granite business doing in Elberton? I haven't been over that way in years.

Steve, the granite golks havent changed much. The industry as a whole has though. There used to be hundreds of plants here of all sizes. They naturally all got into a price war, and that thinned out some. Next came the import business, because the Chinese can replicate anything. Now there are the big boys that import and sell, and a few back yard sheds hanging on.

Wow, I remember see small dump trucks running around with a slab on the back just a big as the trucks. Haven't been that way in a while but remembered see small operations dotting around the country. Wasn't nothing like seeing a saw mill on the side of the road cutting a jumbo slab. Progress happens fast when you don't visit a town like you used to.

They still have plenty of saw sheds, a lot of the bog ones have bought out the other big ones, or outside companoes from up north have bought them up. The trucking situation is a lot safer than it used to be. The DMVS hangs around here to help with that. Had a few accidents with saw blocks coming off a truck and squishing cars. The town still has a low wage base because of the granite sheds. Thats the main reason I travel. Did service work around here for almost 15 years before I got out of it. Had to make some money somehow. I like to tinker with junk too much.

JJ more than likely is. Those were the last of a good Poulan saw line.

Cool. I've been reading up about them, they are definitely top notch and I can't wait to get it fired up and running!

Left overs. Part saws.

I have moved alot of those to the locals. Great saws and build. Lot better then them plastic homeowner ranch saws the others sell for 4 times as much.

3450 330 I have set for locals now.

It's very satisfying to me to watch a friend put down his Farm Boss and try my 3450 or 3000. "I didn't know Poulans were this good!"

Currently I have an Micro XXV on my bench, When trying to unscrew the ignition module
instead of the lower mounting becom loose the entire support rod broke off from the cylinder.

MXXV_ignition_support_broken.jpg

Fortunately I have a good spare mug to replace this one. I will have to dremel the mounting screw off the ignition ... :BangHead:
