Its probably one one of those things you wont notice until you have a long bar on them both and see which one is gutting it out better

One day I'm gonna play with em both, use the same bar chain setup and time em. Then at least with the ones I have we can make a determination. Or maybe an even more fair race would be the sleeper 4000 against the 3700 since it's literally a piston and cylinder change difference. Yeah that's what I'll do.

Finished up other folks saws and still felt like working. So rebuilt the carb on my #1 PP445 71cc 50mm that didnt run so good awhile back when compared to the 441.
Also tried to show the walbro tool for setting heights. Also have a zama one. Their cheap, quick and handy.

Guy in my chainsaw repair was selling some NOS stuff.
I went ahead and picked up this 85cc NOS cylinder. Just in case someone might need it down the road.
Will have to wait till in hand to see if 52 54 or a 85.

Not my pics but what I was shown.

I only buy select parts I know folks will need and I pay alittle more for buying that way.
Why I dont buy out places. I dont want to be stuck with a bunch of stuff I cant sell either.

Alright guys. Question...got a 4000 that I did some extremely mild port work to (key word extreme...it may not have even made any difference) . Just exhaust side cleanup and smooth out. Plus deleted base gasket. However I think it made some difference cause my L needle is wanting to be set at less than 1 turn now. Is that common? I've read somewhere that more air thru means more fuel through and that instead of leaning one out it will run rich due to the amount of fuel its pulling thru with it. Idk

Just in case someone comes along with the same problem...it ended up being the crank seals. Old hard seals. Soaked em in brake fluid on its side for a couple hours and it ran fine (dont recommend as a permanent fix, only did it cause I suspected that and had no way of pressure testing). New seals ordered.

Maybe you had a small air leak before?

Could be...how common is it for a carb to be set at less than a turn on this series? I dont think any of my others are... talking about L side.

I have a 3800 i've been playing with for a while. It's mildy ported, bg delete, muff mod etc... I like it fine but want to make it more of a sleeper. Since it has the non coated cylinder... Could i bore it out and make it around a 70ccish saw? Piston selection first would be the key but is there any reason it wont work?

Well I got some time in with the little booger today and I must say this thing has some grunt! I trimmed up a dozen pine trees that haven't been touched for 20+years and cut a truckload of dead ash. It has definitely earned a spot in the rotation.
