Every 084 I’ve ever seen has the stepped cylinder cover on it.

Bar mount should be a giveaway too. If that bar is a 3003 not going to be an 084.

I bought and sold a stolen saw off C-list once...
Detective called about 3 months after I had sold it.
I offered him the reported value of the saw.
He said no go and went on down the line to the guy I sold it to.
I told him the offer stands but he said that’s not how it works...
Man I felt bad about that one!

Still makes no sense.
I can see why the buyer wants proof of purchase in case it turns out to be stolen (or for tax purposes in large items). But not the seller, unless he thinks it will be used in a crime down the road.

Oh, I agree it's a bit different...Just offering another perspective. Maybe something happened that turned his caution button to an 11.

I still don't give receipts, take photos, fingerprint, or get names of 1st born on both sides of the family for saw sales.
Cash and see ya. With the Corona thing, I don't even give out handshakes anymore...
