Herman,

Does Groundii run an 066?
Never has. Her saw is an MS180. She's run larger saws but she really doesn't cut very much. When we do tree take-downs, she drives the truck and pulls the trees over with the bull rope. She does pretty well at that. She also manages a lot of the equipment such as putting away throw lines, stuffing pull ropes back into the bag, disassembling the pole saw for transport and what not. Sometimes on small jobs I'll let her do all the cutting while I do the other tasks. She's not interested in felling though.

Blue top husky 288 on the missoula montana craigslist. I think $600 is kinda steep but figured i'd post it. I tried to trade an oem high top kit for the eliminater kit but he wants the money.

It's people like this who give craigslist sales a bad reputation....
The original owner of this saw contacted me via youtube video comments a few weeks ago asking if I wanted to buy it for $100. He told me it needed a new top end and that the piston had a huge chip in it. I asked him if he could hold it for about a week but that didn't work out, he sold it. No big deal I figured, you win some you lose some.
Today I decide to check out good ol craigslist and noticed the same saw and the work listed but not including one major component. So I decided I'd be nosey and asked the guy about the saw and he told me he had just sold it, but also verified that he never replaced the piston.
I feel bad for the guy who payed all that money for a saw that needs rebuilt.

I'd say so, even better @ 200-225! LOL although I'm not much good on Husky's, but the 268xp had a pretty stout reputation here are some specs from Mike Acres Place: http://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.n...4b191cd533de4c5788256d09001fd328?OpenDocument

Many love the 61 thru 272 family, as well as the Jonny 625/630/670 versions. But the 372/2171 chassis that replaced it was a significant improvement. More power, much better anti-vibe, better cylinder design.

The 268XP and 272XP really only differ in the extra 2mm bore of the 272. Like most examples where two similar models differ by only a few CC's, performance is very close with differences noticed as the wood gets bigger. They are both of what would be called the second generation on this chassis, where as a 266XP is from the early generation. Early being defined as twin coil ignition and lower profile muffler and top cover.

There were two versions of the 268: the closed port XP and the later open port which was not an XP. The open port 268 arrived at about the same time the 272XP replaced the 268XP. For at least part of the time it was on the market, the open port 268 was given the "special" moniker. That open port cylinder was shared with the 268K cutoff saw as well as your gray top 66. The only other cylinder that was shared by two models was the 62CC jug used on both the 162SE and the Jonsered 630 Super. Easy saws to work on, but interchangability between different models can be tricky until you get familiar with them.

268 is a 28" bar saw, max: uncle Lucky runs 18" or 20" on most of his, (he's real short.)

He has a 32" on one of them, but he puts it up every time I show up when there is big wood.

In good shape with good seals, & a new 20-24" B&C, it's an honest $300 saw.

That bar needs to be on a 288/394/5, or 2100, which are good saws on their own.
