Stage 1 883 EFI.
Roads here are rough, I upgraded the suspension at both ends about 2000 miles ago, haven't bottomed out yet.

I've got 1200ccs. Tuned, intake, exhaust. It's a blast to rip around on. You change to progressive brand products?

My wife says it's Time for a more comfortable two up bike. she says my VFR doesn't cut it for long distance,

She wants a BMW K1600 gtl.

What are you fellas riding two up?

Sportster Rock!
One of the last true motorcycles built these days.
They are kind of like a small block pony car.

Like anything, I guess it just depends on what you expect out of it.

Current state of my fxr (correction: fxs)...

fl.JPG
Buddy of mine got his fx front end smushed by a car while sitting at a stoplight so I gave him the one from mine.
Then another friend who owed me $'s gave me an fl front end and the fatboy wheels, so I decided to convert to fl.
Been sitting like that for 10+ years, Need to wire it, plumb the brakes, paint, etc. Picked up a set of hard bags at a swap meet a couple years ago.
Figured I'd save it for when I get old and maybe slowed down a bit, might be awhile longer tho...

did lotta hiway miles on the 73. not the best for that. had 81 flh. much nicer road bike. like yours will be. am hopin "fxr" is typo.
think yours would be fxe. fxr & flt use rubbermount 5 speed frame. mine is flt. beginning of my build...

Yeah now that I think of it, '79 fxs. My bad...
Just cosmetic differences from the fxe that had the peanut sort of tank where the fxs had a 3.5 gal split tank, like a mini fl.
Fxr and rubber mount frames/motors were still a couple years down the road.

May be a long time 'till it's done, have a number of other bike projects ahead of it and tons of other projects before those.
Retirement time frame most likely, or I need a few clones...

This was from the day I picked it up, IIRC totally stock. Cleaned it up a bit, lower bars, ditched the back rest, added the pipes and seat that are still on it. Those front brakes really sucked...

'63 bonnie I was building at the same time. Was riding with all harley guy's back then, the unfortunate design influence is pretty evident here. Ok on harleys but sort of an aberration on a brit.
Was a runner though, koni shocks, ceriani forks, alloy wheels, hi comp 800 top end, cams, ported, bigger valves, nitrous, water injection, belt drive primary, hydraulic clutch...

Eventually blew a rod out the bottom of the motor trying to get a 150mph run, that was messy. Was too broke to spring for the carello forged rods and 'paid the price'...

Still have it, mostly apart.

My back up bike at the time, '77 bonnie... currently looks pretty much the same but 'british racing' green, bigger brake and ceriani rr forks.

Daytona's are neat little bikes, very nimble, I never got into the 500's or triples, just didn't want to spread myself too thin I guess.
Did play around with the 200 cubs a bit.

'76 bonnie was pretty much identical to the '77, to me probably the last of the 'good' years before they started 'modernizing'.
The 750's fell victim to the epa stuff and were a bit de-tuned with a lower lift exhaust cam. The better 650 ex cams fit right in but were a pain to install because the case had to be split to do it. Woke them up some though...

IIRC the 500's had removable plates to slide the cams out, don't know why they didn't do that on the 650/750's.

Reminds me of the rotary engine in a race car I saw on YouTube, can't remember if it was a 4 or 5 rotor, man it sounded sweet.
