Free donuts?
Unfortunately for them, no. Actually Pepboys next door called. They had a guy in their lobby who was not a customer who was either taking way too many drugs or not nearly enough and wouldn't leave. He wandered over here for a bit, seemed pretty harmless, I've encountered much worse here. Police seemed to be familiar with him and they must not have been too worried about him hurting himself or anyone else because they had a friendly chat with him and told him it was time to go home.

No idea whether the machine or the operators are dumb on this one.

Biggest most expensive CNC mill at work is stuck like this nearing 48 hours now.
Love it because I hate that machine.

A Hurco CNC mill tool changer can be reset "manually".

Update:
They unstuck the mills tool changer, kinda.
It doesn't fully revert to home position still rendering the machine inoperable.

For reasons unknown to me the mill is not to be shut down.
That been said it will be "powered" yet inoperable the whole weekend ever since Wednesday.

Also, the mill I have been manning this week is severely leaking oil.
I have been reporting the fault every day and my superiors don't seem to care all too much.

I feel sorry for the machine, but I ain't going to break a sweat figuring out where the fault is at as it would play into my superiors hands.

I tested it hillbilly style.
It certainly is not emulsifying oil, and it seems more dense than hydraulic oil that the machine utilizes.
Meaning it may be gearbox oil which is not good considering the B-axis has been fully rebuilt as well as the main spindle - equaling WARRANTY.

The aforementioned mill is now actively leaking oil during operation, superiors don't care.

Two out of six identical DMG mills are down with the same issues, Hydraulics.
Pumps don't shut off when pressure is built so they run till they overheat.
Solution of my superiors?
Lets drain the hot oil and fill in cold just so we can keep running the machine!

Superior to me: What's this say? (German written warning label)
Me: Danger, container pressurized, max 105 bar.
Superior to maintenance guy: Fill it up to 105 bar! (was 95)

Official DMG maintenance guy: The machine (with hydraulics issues) has an air pocket in its hydraulic system. We have to remove the C-axis to bleed the system.

Three hours later...

Official DMG maintenance guy: Nope, that wasn't it!

The Hurco mills are now a decade plus.
Did they have failures?
Yes, but they got ran 24/6 (even 24/7 for a while!) from the get go for years.
And they will still run despite having some mayor faults.

The DMG Mori mills are now 3-4 years in operation.
Some of them had running & reliability issues from day one.
All but one of them already had mayor overhauls, or need them desperately.
The DMG machines won't run if they encounter the slightest issue, and they have plenty.

I must note that the work environment these machines operate in is extreme.
Also, most "operators" are there only for the paycheck and don't care about the equipment one bit, yet daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly maintenance is deemed to be the operators obligation.
Half year and annual maintenance is always a massacre as it involves partial disassembly of the machines.

To conclude this joke!

It was the hydraulic pressure sensing shutoff valve that was defective causing the pump to run continuously building over pressure and heat.

Like SERIOUSLY?!
How don't You check that as a starting point being the official DMG maintenance guy.

Funny thing, they didn't have a spare valve so they took it off another machine that is down due to a diffferent fault & overhaul.

Then, B A M ! ! !

A functional yet acting up machine gets torn apart and waits on parts second week now.
Half the springs of the spindle tool clamping mechanism are broken, all bolt heads snapped off.
Good product DMG Mori!

These machines were dubbed to be indestructible.
They are all faulty within warranty/one year.
