Does the top cover from previous models fit? I have seen the filter upgrade kit come with a top cover, and was wondering why

My 2014 top cover is identical except the new one has the additional opening to allow heat to escape by the brake flag.
I think the cover swap is needed on 560 or another model. Not the 562xp

How long to change it out?

Ha. I bought the kit for my old saw which I have torn down so I don’t know. It’s been 2 weeks so far and I still haven’t ordered the other parts to put it back together.

But it is 2 screws, the rubber isolators and you need to move the fuel primer. Should be quick enough. Make sure you get the choke switch positioned correctly.

Ive done 550 carb work multiple times, there is a method to it that looks intimidating but once you pull the carb out you will see how the fuel/primer lines are routed in the air horn. loosen the two screws, to pull them out remove the rubber isolators attached to the air box by plucking them off to the side, then lift the carb up and slide the screws out. Pay atention to how the start lever hooks onto the carb.
before you even start this blow out all crud witth compressed air keeping the filter on. Last thing you need is sawdust between the carb and rubber boot areas giving you an air leak. i give the boot a little coat of grease to allow things to slide and position themselves properly.

Updated filter kit install question:

When installing the 598934703 kit what do you do with the vent line from the tank which
originally landed on a plastic barb fitting on the old filter holder assy?

This line is located on the right side and is part of a dual line assy which one side if for the
primer bulb the other to the old filter holder.

@big_eddy @kneedeepinsaws ??

Your help is appreciated!

The line doesn’t get used. Newer models don’t have the line.

Great info, sir,
When one sees how easy it was for them to modify the crankcase for the PTO bearing on both sides, it makes me wonder why they had to redesign the entire 550 to mark II.

Den gode nyheten er at det neppe kommer en mark II for 560 og 562 (noe norsk for dere lol)

Good day Joakim,

Welcome to OPE.
