Here's a good vid on how they used to do it old sleepers cutters hewing sleepers with a broad axe.
My dad has a collection of old broad axes he calls em an ad's (not sure on the spelling) or is an ad's the thing that looks like a mattock?? IDK I'll ask him next time I see him. A Board axe is actually left or right handed the handle curves to one side depending on if you are left or right handed so ya don't smash ya knuckles on the edge of the timber you are hewing.

Adz looks like a 1-sided mattock, broad axe is the wide axe.

Has some firewood attachment on the front of it, I've not seen that before myself it would even get my blood pumping using it lol

I haven’t been in the woods for over 2 months now. Driveshaft broke back in March and parts were BO through Spicer… Parts came in but arrived wrong. Tonight I dropped the chains and limped it home without the rear driveshaft.
Dude…we do drivelines…which parts broke?

U-joint failed which in turn wrecked the slip yoke on the rear driveshaft, as well as the output yoke on the TCase. I was able to source brand new parts from a dealer now. I’ll be repairing it here at home instead of in the weeds and also checking over the rest of the machine good while I’ve got the heavy equipment operating gig going for now.

Ok, good to hear you’re not out of work
Thanks. Yes a buddy of mine who owns an excavating business needed some help this summer and knowing my situation, I told him I could help for a few months. That will give me some income while also buying time to fix leaking seals and other things on the Timberjack.
