I agree I have spent some hours behind the wheel of one. Much larger than my 440 but for a 1 man operation my 440 is all I need.

It is surprising how much those little 440s will pull

This was our landing a couple weeks ago as we were wrapping up our day.

Back when I was a common logger, I ran a 640D which from what I was told by Deere that the 640d was a 640 front with 648 tail frame and heaver rear axle. It was converted from a line machine to a young swinging grapple, 120 inch I believe. That was one tough machine, just not comfy having the open cab. The bullbuck also owned a 648g with esco swinger that he ran. Nice machine also, had AC and all. But it did seem to break down more, it had alot of electrical issues, like wiring problems with the electro over hydraulic solenoid valves.

Electric over Hydraulics are nice and fancy. But yeah, they break down more.

Almost all of our construction equipment is still the old style Hydraulic over hydraulic with the exception of our Kubota 95 skid steer

Picture was actually taken last winter but looks about same now. Cascade area. Grew up in Clearwater area, between Kamaih and Weippe.

Cool, love the Clearwater area. I usta cut yarder corridors down in the floodwood state forest and down by headquarters and Bertha hill for forest circus sales.
What got you to head south?

Yeah I really like that area too. Yeah I worked around headquarters, Pearce, and Bertha hill for Dabco in the 90’s.
Went to Alaska for 11 years and when we came back this is where the work opened up first.

You beat me to the good wood lol I didn't start cutten down there till 2001. I remembered cutting next to previously logged units and always wondered about about stories from the stump and the Sawyer!

Lots of memories from those days. I wasn't such a god fearing and respectful fellow back then. I had some growing up to do I reckon, myself as a young lad really disappoints me. On a particular corridor above steep cougar creek, I was dumping the timber straight down the hill. It was such a thrill to hear those trees slide down and pile drive into the creek bottom. Yea I got a butt chewing from the bullbuck, and learned not to waste timber to satisfy my crash and burn curiosity!

272xp full wrap? I didn't know cedars got that big that far south!

Yes sir. Yeah there was some big ones, about furthest south I’ve seen them.
