Woke up early in tillamook oregon this morning, love the air here, log trucks moving about and loggers headed out for work, my kind of place for sure. I didn't realize there was so many hardwood species over on the coast

The farther north you get the less hardwood species there is. You’re getting pretty close to my stomping grounds.

View attachment 289607 My new to me HD-11 farm Cat. Not too pretty or new, but about 20 years newer than my D4-7u with pony motor that I have.
Sweeps, winch, and track roller rock guards. That ole gal will work just fine @CLEARCUT
I may suggest loosening those tracks just a fuzz. Tight as a bow string is too tight and will wear quicker or even break with debris in sprockets. Hard find nowdays as everyone is looking for Tier2 and Tier3 machines.

Only other thing I might add is a taller stack to get the fumes up out of the operators face.

Flex pipe it back over the top of your ROPS. That way it's blowing away from you and not up into the trees either as a self made fire starter.

Vine maple will rip something like that off, you’d be amazed at what that stuff will take out. If I’m machine cutting I have watch the hoses on the head because it will pull a a hose out of the crimp or if you’re even more lucky it’ll break the hose in half.

I’m definitely not fully used to the de-celerator compared to the way my old cat is set up. I think it’ll be better though.

I think you’ll come to like it. Decelerators are the way to go on a mechanical drive dozer. Holding down a pedal all day to get the machine to run wide open at a constant speed is ignorant. Tapping a pedal when it’s time to slow up or change direction is the ticket.

Now your getting closer to me.

It’s always amazing how much of a difference even an hour south is vs up here by the river, we could be 50 here where Portland is 60’s and you guys are in the mid 60’s.

For sure. The weather difference in the summer especially is crazy different between here and Coos Bay, generally. It could be 80 here and be foggy and 60 in Winchester Bay.

All ya'll coastal oregon folks got it good! Lots of diversity here, a little something for everyone to do and have fun! The saw shops are awesome too compared to what we have in idaho.

Did you make it up to Chehalis to Madsens?
