Heck yeah! Aftermarket needs to get it in gear! Chip that sucker, haha!

@Funky sawman Side question, you have a thread about your draft horse anywhere? Curious.
Not that I can recall, I've talked about horse logging on this forum and other forums before though.

Hopefully I will still have my animals then. The property I'm staying on isn't long term and to board 3 horses cost about 375 a month plus feed.
If I had to start over again I would definitely use horses for work animals over owning and operating heavy equipment. When the day is done a piece of equipment is just a machine, and a headache to maintain. A good horse or mule you can talk to, yes they do understand. They can also soak up your held up emotions and free you temporary from the constraints of daily life.

It’s that time of year again... At least here. The short period where we get wet enough to not burn, the left coast isn’t burning, and it’s time to check out the Bullard and break in a new pair of boots since my White’s uppers punted on life last year after over a decade of good service.

The tiny agency I work through decided to mandate any new PPE be NFPA certified, so Frank’s boots were not an option. Dammit.

Nick's make some good boots. Use to wear a pair of corks made by them, fine and dandy till one night trying to warm up real close to the camp fire after work and they must have got damaged from excessive heat because the next morning I took two steps and the sole fell off lol

So far I’ve enjoyed mine and helped my back issues I’ve been having from wear junk over the years.

This is my second paid of Nicks boots-No real complaints about the first pair other than the loud mouthed group that would comment on the fact they were brown. They’ve worked coast to coast and from a couple feet of snow to a heat index of 148. They’ve even made their way across the equator.

But there are a few minor things I think make Frank’s boots a little better. Mostly heel placement, Nicks are a little farther back and it makes going downhill feel like it’s throwing your body back a little more. My Frank’s are lace to toe, which I like more and Nicks won’t do. They feel a little bit different in other places, in the same size, and supposedly the same shoe last.

Just minor things. I like my Nicks boots.

Since we are talking boots. Chippewa quit making mine.

I'm picky and they were about perfect. Tan doesn't show the dust and isn't too hot. 6" keeps sand and sawdust out. Looks good for work or professional but not sissy dressy. Can wear all day or hike or whatever. I can't find anything like it. I have skinny feet (chicken legs) and high arches and have been having a lot of trouble with arch/ball pain. I don't live anywhere near any of the custom boot mfrs. Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks

Fill out a fit sheet (correctly) and send it to Frank’s or Nicks if you’re interested in that range of boots. They stock a tan color and can fit you remotely. Frank’s is definitely more of a “custom” shop and will probably go to more lengths to listen & talk through everything with you.

Otherwise... I don’t know. Danner & Thorogood have been my best bets on comfortable “standard” boots.

I would almost say danners would be a good choice but not if you have high arch’s. Good for skinny feet but they’re pretty flat inside, works for me because I have long skinny flat feet. Probably would be better off with a custom pair of boots.

Another one to throw into the mix would be Wesco.
