It's fun working up there on the state because average gyppo's like me can buy direct sales without the environmental horse crap that goes along with any usfs gig. The state still does commercial firewood contracts too.. lion creek man what a rocky drainage. I was adverse skidding with a chained up 540b one wet summer morning and I went for a brief ride down a steep slope over a slab of granite. After stopping I pulled myself together and said this is it, I'm done running skidder. That was officially my last day in a rubber tired wheel skidder, summer of 2016

By far my favorite spot in the priest, amongst the tall cedars and hemlock, just a short hike from the corner of a block I was felling for, is this awesome weeping wall. It has water here in the late summer which is rare for small springs in North idaho.View attachment 274416

I honestly haven’t checked yet. It has been commercially thinned before, and this is the re-gen cut. A 32” bar doesn’t sweep a lot of it.

They could of been making the state forester happy by making some wildlife trees it could of been thinned around the time the new rules were put into place.
