I prefer the 500 over the 462 personally

How so? And would you keep the 500 over a 461? I’m sure you’ve used them all in your line or work.

Well the 500 has quite a bit more power for the bars I run. 32" and up. The throttle response is very impressive. The hood is junk on the 500 . The plastic posts break off in a day or 2 for me.
The 500 is a great saw so far but it has far from proved itself like the 461 has. The 461 is the toughest saw I have ever been around in production falling. I have seen people do crazy stuff with them and they just keep on sawing. So as far as tossing the 461 behind me, no I would not go that far yet

When it is the cut yeah I would say so but it definitely is no where near as stiff in the av department

Thanks for the input! I’ll put my 462 dreams aside I think and maybe upgrade the 046 to a 461 instead.

The 461 is a great saw.

It’s sitting right now. I’m deciding what I want to do. It’s pretty hard for me and the family going from 6 hour days to 10-12 hours. With 4 kids below 6, I like to see them everyday. And hand-cutting is a lot less stressful for me. But I think the mechanical cutting has a good future. We’ll see.
