Looks like it for sure. A lot of the nicer fir we cut look just like that as far as growth pattern.

It came from this patch off the home place

They’re starting to show their age slowing down on the growth and the crowns don’t look as good anymore it’ll be weird looking clear cut.

It’s seems as if they’re as good as they probably will be then. Nice stand. It’ll be nice to see some new reprod coming up though, and a new stand develope.

Nice tree, I counted around 150 rings, it’s hard from a pic

I don’t remember if I counted exactly age or not, some of the export logs have to x amount of rings per inch half way out from the heart is mainly what I’m concerned about to make Japanese sorts.

That’s pretty tight growth. The old-growth fir is generally really tight grain as well. And second- growth Douglas fir usually is nothing like the spruce. Certainly faster growing than that oak, however. Square-grind and soft trees, I love it!

Yeah that’s the words right there softwoood anyday
been doing a lot of oak Lately and fed up off all the green foliage and

Exactly. I do admit that I really like the 7900 as well. Depends how I feel that week, if I want to tune it or not. I’m still having the 572 filter pass some bark fines if I don’t use the prefilter, while the 7900 filter has been flawless so far.

The hightop 7900 filter is among the best imo

You need to get a good ported 372 xpw 51.4mm to complete the collection @CLEARCUT. There is something special about a good one of those.
I have had a couple and sold them last year, so I could buy some 461 arctics. Wish I hadn’t, but it has all worked out. They were nice saws.
