That’s pretty tight growth. The old-growth fir is generally really tight grain as well. And second- growth Douglas fir usually is nothing like the spruce. Certainly faster growing than that oak, however. Square-grind and soft trees, I love it!I’ve counted 70-80 rings in a forest grown oak that was only 8-10”. There’s a reason why it’s called hardwood!

Looks like it for sure. A lot of the nicer fir we cut look just like that as far as growth pattern.![]()
I don’t remember the exact count but if memory serves it was around 20 per inch half way out from the heart.
