I was referring to the bearings in Stihl saws being encased in plastic. Not Echo.BTW, Stihls roller bearing are made in China on certain models.Same with Pistons and rings. Are you aware that the Stihl power head on weed trimmers was made in China? I have a FS55. It clearly shows, China on it.

I did offer to repair it. He felt that it would be to expensive to repair considering the replacement cost.

Hi Randy, maybe I can be of assistance to your older friend. I have an Echo CS400 in excellent shape and running condition. I also did a muffler mod on it and would be a good firewood saw for your older friend. I won’t cost him anything, it’s on me...... I know as you get older and on a fixed income, life becomes more difficult. Maybe I can help your friend.

I can send the CS400 to you Randy, you check the saw out before giving it to your friend.

I had a 450 for awhile, excellent saw. It is sort of a hybrid design. Comes apart like a clamshell but has magnesium housings. Surprising low end torque for 45cc, mine had no trouble at all pulling an 18 incher in hardwood. My only gripe was, it is rather big and heavy for 45cc, the same as most 50cc saws.
