There were several handicapped pups, immobile on their hinds.
I managed to snap pictures of two of them.
They were specified as "do not touch", as such we weren't allowed to get too close to them.

I dare think it is safe to assume these will live their lives in the shelter, sadly!
German shepherds are prone to hip dysplasia and spine problems. Especially the showlines with the sway back lower rearend. I have two working lines one takes supplements to help prevent this condition, we also watch him carefully so he doesn't jump.

Im glad to see the shelter is taking the time to care for these guys. That is tough to look at in their wheel chairs but it beats the alternative I guess!

But she loves loooooong naps & cuddles.
Gotten cold enough for her to prefer being covered again. Direct body contact is also desired again. Wasn't the case all summer.

My sister is getting me a breed DNA test kit for her. :)

Freshly bathed, she was still a bit wet - my little wooly mammoth.

Who needs sleep anyway...

Do you guys groom your dogs yourselves, or take them to the groomers?

I am maintaining my pups exterior myself.
It bonds us, or so I feel.
She is luckily for me quite groom needs free.
Her claws are my biggest constant concern.

I used to bathe my pup more frequently to get a flea/tick repellant shampoo coating into her fur.
It would have varying results and longevity effect depending on outdoor conditions.
If moist (morning dew) or wet (rain, snow) she would basically wash the shampoo off within a week.
When dry (summer heat) the repellant would work for up to a month.

Now she is getting a NexGard pill every couple months so that bathing is limited to when she gets herself stinky and/or dirty.

I do not bathe her for her natural dog smell, that is part of what she is and I accept it as such.

Happy pup!

This evening she wouldn't go into the house as long as I was outdoors.

Shop was warm, she was somewhat tired from our AM walk.
