I'm not sure what is funnier, how proud Karl is after gutting his toy to remove the squeaker, or the look on my son's face knowing that he gets to clean up the stuffing!
I'm very sorry to hear that. I lost three pets last year so I definitely know what it's like. Two of them were really old and it was their time but it still sux.
My pups mom Kitty was 12+, but she always seemed spry - until she suddenly did not, and she deteriorated fast.
This year I watched my cousins Golden Retriever of 17 die in my arms.
He was in bad health for years and it only got worse - they did not allow an "assisted end" due to religious beliefs.
He died in gripping death cramps for two days and one night, it must have been excruciating for him - just thinking about it drives tears into my eyes.

You nailed it! I wish I had spent more time training him when he was a pup. He is smart and was easy to teach until he got to be about a year old. Now he is stubborn and gets an attitude if he doesn't get what he wants.
