Looks like a feisty little bugger, always nice when a plan works out so well. I'm sure you will enjoy that saw knowing what you did to make it happen. I'm working on another Asain 440 BB, always trying to improve a bit!
Still doing good? This was the right saw with the right guy to use it on, if it goes bunko, I can just fix it betterer with no anger issues. Started saw up this morning before it went away and all seems well. No issues idling/tuning that some Big Bore kits encounter. If they only all could be like that...
Also noteworthy, installed the kit just as is, did not make modification one to anything.
He's going to be using it in his firewood pile soon, so we shall see...
He had me stock up on everything to rebuild it the exact same way lolStill doing good?
The 371 has been great he uses it almost daily.View attachment 146907
Comp is 155 and hasn't dropped
Since i built it.
This is a caber that several have told me can't be run in a ft/huztl cylinder lol
He only has this saw and a 290 i put a 046 carb on.
The 290 was loaned out to his friend because it hasn't been started since
I built the 371 the first time lol

If it ever let's go
How sweet it is. Gotta love it. Thanks.
Only thing it needs is a gfy sticker lol.The saw not only ran good but pulled good too(torque) for its size, starts and idles well and just runs good in general all around.
The premise for the build was a saw for Nick to hand down to his grandson's. So quality was forefront and it started with quality parts. This didn't mean to throw money at it until something stuck, the best bang for the buck was sought out. Started with a not so good cylinder, so a good used one was procured, thanks Al @drf256 this combined with a Meteor piston helped keep the budget down, as pretty much everything else was new OEM, thanks Dave @Definitive Dave and Dallas @dall .
The side covers and muffler was sent to Mike @Glock37 for powder coating for durability. Have to say in all honesty here that I was totally impressed with what came back, everything literally looked better than new... no guff.
I do have to admit here that while machining the last bit off the squish band that the boring bar bit chattered. Seemed it was too square to the band being cut. I could have cleaned this up with another cut, but being as I was right on target I decided to leave it, as it just looks a little odd and not going to hurt performance, rather than cut too far and have bigger problems. #rememberjms Changes were made to the boring bar so as not to occur again, was the first time using it, so was the learning curve I guess.
The intake had a very deep entrance to the cylinder and was filled with epoxy not only to bring it up, but also to make a more gradual sweep to the opening. This brought the duration back for better "drivability".
The exhaust was widened to 65% of the bore and the floor stepped. The muffler was opened up but still leaving through a stock screen as it will be heading to a dryer climate than here.
I'm fairly well pleased with how everything turned out and should make for a great work saw for many, many years to come.
What can I say. GFYThat’s too nice for @nickw , good thing he’ passing it on or I would call dibs...
