a wider bar is better for bore cutting how do i know this i don't. read it on the internet so it must be true.

A WIDER BAR is worse for plunge cutting, more resistance, more strain on the engine. A WIDER TIP is "better" if smoothness and control are what you are after, otherwise "better" can be defined to what you want better to be.

I think the narrow tip is more durable and lasts longer but is aggressive and chatter prone, the wider tip results in a much smoother and controllable cut. YMMV
Ive always heard that but have noticed the exact opposite, seems as though the smaller the pressure point the more wear so the narrow would wear out faster.

Like you, I can only answer based on my experience. I do know that when I use a narrow tip bar I have to put a LOT more pressure on it to control the chatter so maybe that results in your experience with more wear on the tip. I don't use narrow tips much for bore cutting and I can't say that I have bore cut with any bar with sufficient force to wear it out.

I've read that the wide nose is for boring but it's moving more wood than the narrow,if your going to stab something do you want a knife or a spoon?

The wide nose tip might last longer but for boring give me the narrow tip and a full comp chain, semi will do but full chisel is better.
Well said sir. Well said.

The tsumura bars seem to be smooth bore cutting. I don't do much of it.

I have bore cut but it's a rare occasion for me. I maybe bore one tree every couple years. That being said, I don't really have an opinion. Some safety type chains on a narrow nose bar would make it impossible to bore with and many would be difficult. Depends on how radical the safety links are.

I think wider tips bore better, at least the way it feels to me and it appears you do have a larger cutting area, I assume your taking out more chips faster and as mentioned less stress on the tip spreading it out and less heat I would think.
I was under the impression from past training and reading that bars were made with narrower noses because it equates less of a kickback range reducing kickback somewhat. 1 of the reasons carving bar tips are so narrow.
