3d print the lower and press/glue in a metal sleeve for the air filter clamp section.

Good idear! Metal bushings where the carb mounting screws go like the original, should be bomb proof.

I think he's already putting anti-crush sleeves in the bolt holes.

Yup, sleeves will be in this one as well.

Go for it. The saw it's going on has been a slow build. Still waiting to find a few pieces and others to come in. My next window to start building it won't be for a while. And the elbow is next to last needed.

Now that I think about it, there is no reason why it couldn't be a plastic sleeve.

Plastic sleeve sounds better. plastic to plastic epoxy should bond well.

The filter is very close to the original in just about every way possible. All that's missing is the Husqvarna logo for obvious reasons.

I don’t think there was an OEM one, and I don’t think anyone makes one to fit.

But you can have Outerwears make custom ones, their price is really reasonable and I’ve had them made for 394/5’s.
