If you have experience gas welding thin material, no.Do you guys forsee any problems gas welding a pipe?
Last I checked, 30 years ago, i was decent at it. Didn't know if it would warp or notIf you have experience gas welding thin material, no.
If not, probably at first, maybe a lot.
Some prefer it and are very proficient.
Braze gets kinda messy though when not paintedI wouldnt do it personally, but you could braze it.

That wouldnt change the stroke. Just the dwell time.Could the Dolmar crank be taken apart and put back with just the solo rod, then trued and welded?
Crankworks in Arizona does great work too.Gosh what is the name of that shop that does this work?
Are they able to repair that crank? Or does it need a new rod?
I dont think replacing the dolmar rod with the solo will accomplish the stroke. The stroke is in the swing of the crank. There is a whole case on ebay that has a complete crank inside, I think 150.
Terry is right. Decreasing crank case volume typicaly makes slightly more power at the expense of power curve width.Every saw I have added case compression to has been a really good runner throughout the power curve. I have not tested it by itself though. Gunna have to try that one of these days
Coming from you sir that means something! Nice work @Fruecrue.I ran that saw today...Mfer runs very well!
