A 462 vudeo that I found. Note the missing spikes.
If a Stihl 462 is what one uses for bucking pine, what Stihl saw do I need for bucking beech, oak and locust - MS900i?

Granted I'm no Stihl guy so I'm not easily impressed, but rather small diameter pine/soft wood is hardly worth breaking out a saw like that.
And how does one put a Picco B&C setup on that saw, isn't it like 70cc or something?

Another observation, do You guys tend to rock the saw while bucking?
I found the fastest cut to be pushing straight down.

Just my observation, no offense intended.

RI Chevy, I'm not trying to be a hater lol
But that 462 was poorly setup up. If your going to remove the dogs and run a 16" b/c then replace the dogs with the proper smooth aluminum bumper that's an option. The muffler will get beat out of shape without it, plus the mount hole stubs will snag on the wood.

63PS3 no wonder the operator was rocking that saw...that little green chain couldn't puke out the chips fast enough. Looked to be losing its edge quick too.
At least run .325 23RSC chain.

Lol. True.
I came across the video, watched it and shared it. I never even thought about the chain issue. BUT I did notice the lack of a spike. [emoji16]

It only took an hour or so for me to dent the bejeasus out of one of my MS261 mufflers running it without dawgs. You want one of them bumpers like Partner put on their R-16 which is smooth with a little curve in it. Once you dent up a stainless muffler, they are near impossible to bash back into shape again....I've tried with poor success.
