I received my latest saw,an MS241C, in the mail this morning, and raced off to work to try it out.
It's had the muffler opened up by Brad Snelling, but otherwise stock, with hardly any time on it.
I owned a 362cm and never really bonded with it,so sold it and went looking for something different
Bought the 241 from a forum member,(thanks again Mike!) and i couldnt be happier with it.

It came with a 16"es light bar,and PS3 chain (i do want to try it with straight PS soon)
On smaller,5" eucalypt,it zipped through nicely, pretty similar to my Vince modded 181c,albeit more powerful,
it felt great,but not unexpected.

Putting it into a rock hard 14" ironbark log was quite a shock though,it chewed through it like a pint sized tassie devil, with more grunt than seemed possible for such a small saw.
I kept cutting rounds, and couldnt bog it down!
So i switched to a larger 20" grey box, same result.

Determined to bog it down,i flipped a 3ft round on end,and started ripping.
Finally,i managed to slow the little monster down enough to feel reality returning, but it still did the job like a saw 3 times its size. Incredible torque.

Maybe I'm just in the "honeymoon" phase, and my infatuation will wear off,but
I'm gobsmacked by this saw,and its coming to work every day from now on.

Best saw I own. All the others seem heavy and clumsy now.

Any pics of the muff mod? My brother has a 241. Nice little saw, but bone stock, and I was not as blown away with it's performance, but he loves it.

I personally think there is a lot to be said for a powerful smaller saw that you run with a 15-16 in bar on it. I have always liked the 024 -ms 240, owned a few..sold a few ..and will make a effort to try out the 241 ASAP . I don't expect or need a 241 to run a 20 inch bar in hardwood, so im sure they run strong on the right size bar and chain making best use of there revs and grunt they have. Always nice that a little saw feels more than you expect and that also for me would add to the pleasure of having one. Mostly good reports in the UK about them being used in softwood thinning and as a limbing saw/light duty ground saw...just the job for them IMO.

They're a ripper little saw. I use my in hard dry stuff. Still use my 026 in cleaner stuff as the air filters not as good

A 241 made a 026/260 size saw not get much use outta me and what i do with these smaller saws.

@sawmikaze nice work looks sharp man, a small saw that run well in a tree is always a friend of mine......;)

Idk how exactly he does it , but ive been heatin the mufflers up to get em' soft and then usin a chisel i hacked all up on my bench grinder to pry the louvers open..it works pretty good.
