All I have is second hand info....

But the guy that sent me the saw said it locked up tight as a ticks ass. I'd assume the clip ended up between the jug and the slug.

Bottom of piston seems to look good in the pic, I would think if the clip got it, it would have skirt damage?

Is it possible it wedged between the crank and case? Or does that all look clean and not dinged up?

Fixed it for you.

Damn, I would be pissed. I would be requesting a whole new saw.

In such a case, where stihl “comps a top end”
Do they hand over the free parts to the user or do they only allow there dealer/techs to install them?

The owner does a lot of business with this dealer....and probably got a great deal on the 462 he just bought.

Stihl paid for all parts and labor.
