Boy this went south in a hurry, lol! Anyone have a part number for a Stihl DP cover? My dealer doesn't show one. I asked when I picked it up. What about just opening it up and putting a pipe on it? I did that to my 440 and it worked pretty good. Now I need to decide which one to send to Randy to get ported. Is it worth changing the ignition to the 460? What parts are needed? I am pretty capable mechanically, but don't have the knowledge many of you all do. I am going to buy a bigger saw for work at some point (many of you all have read that post) so I don't need to purchase a big saw for my use. I really bought the 461 so I still had a saw while I send one to Randy. It may be a little while, but I definately plan on jumping on the ported saw train. Which saw would you all have ported?

I think they mean getting all of your saws ported. LOL Once you go ported, you never go back.

sorry for sawmikaze ruining your thread. Ask your dealer to get you a dual port cover for an 046mag. Same same. I can't remember the part number off my head.

Sorry dude.

All saws run good when ported properly....your 461 will be a killer.

Ok, I have a few dealers I can go through. Some deal mostly with homeowners, some do mostly tree service companies. The place I bought the saw from is a dealer, but mostly handles other industrial supplies. He is a dealer mainly because the loggers wanted him to be one. He keeps a guy on staff as a mechanic for small engine repairs. I will pick his brain, he is one of them that has forgot more about chainsaws then most people will know. I didn't realize he was an employee until the other day. He actually gassed and oiled it, took it out back and cut some with it, made adjustments, and actually filled it back up. He said most customers just buy them and never want him to check them. He does the assembly and checks them then, but this 461 was sold in the box on a day he was off. I am sure he will be happy to find the parts for me and readjust as necessary.
