The saw ran fine with the stock carb, boring it is just a mod for power

you may not know you need it until it has more carb.

if you don't think it has enough fuel after opening the venturi then open up the fuel circuit to make it easier to get fuel. adjusting the depth of the nozzle may help.

I have frankly had good luck don't try to go wild just flow the carb. think of a river with rocks in it. polish of the rough edges of the rocks or remove them.
hope that helps.

grabbing a bigger carb is the nice way to do it like an hda 199 on a 346. sometimes well most the time its not that easy.

one time I put a 254 carb on a 262 because I knew the 254 was a good carb. It ran but changed everything about the running characteristics for the worse. well still idled ok. That experience made me understand the importance of enough carb.

After thinking about that question and looking at this 2100 carb and 660 side by side i figured it is just to wring alittle more out of it. I am still curious at the point a saw "needs" a bigger carb. How they act.

Like me, we're just going to have to try it out ourselves

This saw didnt need a bigger carb,it ran great with the stock one but bored it gained 500 rpm in the wood.

I ran it one last time before it goes home,
It my 066 and my 395 all same bar and chain. My 395 is stout and the fastest but not by a lot.

So your saying I should do what so many others here have done and experiment? Not get spoon fed info? How primative.:D
I've ruined 2 carbs doing that but it's a mod that's worth the trouble.

You will gain enough air that you will have to tune richer.

If you get into long cuts and it feels like after 30 seconds or so you lost a little power it could use more carb. The 7900 really is noticeable with the modded carbs from Rich. He does such a good job I haven't ordered the micro drill bits to play with those mods.

I have one of Rich's carbs for my 7910 conversion waiting to be installed. Excited to see it in action
