Is that a domed Mahle piston?
Circlips dont look like OEM Stihl either for that model.
Ring looks like 1.5 mm instead of 1.2mm.
Is that an unusual bevel to just one large corner of the intake, or is it worn oddly there or just a trick of the light?
I am guessing modified saw probably Husqvarna piston, maybe 066 cylinder with 288 piston.
The unusual wear at the inside of the pin boss makes me think they used an 088 Stihl piston pin bearing without spacers instead of the 288 OEM bearing.

I don't think so Dave for a couple of reasons, first is the 288 is a 54mm bore not 52mm, second is 288s use a single ring piston, not two.

It's 54mm,didn't catch that at first.Wrist pin bearing is sloppy in the piston. The dome is what stuck out when I took it apart. That mark at the top of the piston almost looks drilled?

Looks like an 056 super piston.

Is the plating coming off the lower transfer in the cylinder or is that a reflection? That would be a strange location to see wear.
The squish band looks nice and tidy from a recent cut job. Hopefully those vertical lines around the exhaust clean up.

That's wear at the lower transfer, but not thru the plating. The piston is junk I'd say.

Looks like a mahle 066 cylinder with a 54mm 056 piston in it.

I'm trying to figure out what would wear the plating off by the lower.

Unless the 056 piston has a much wider skirt then there shouldn't be anything even touching that spot.
