Someone gifted me a stihl dime tip bar some time ago which has got me thinking about giving carving a try.
Who carves and what is your set up?

I've made a couple crude chairs, a bench and then hacked big square windows into a log for my wife to put solar lanterns in.
I've used a MS180 with a dime tip, a Poulan wood shark, an 036, a 268 and 500i on those.
I kind of enjoyed turning the block of wood into something even though it was super simple and unrefined.

As far as saws you can use anything. I use primarily a mix of a 261, husky 543, echo 2511 and a little Mikita battery saw. The echo and Mikita have pole saw or arborist tip bars on them. Nothing fancy is required though. Lots of fellers just use a ms170 with the pole saw “blade”
