I cut a groove with a cutoff wheel and drive a cutter in it. Just use a peice long enough to cut the band, like a 1/2"

What numbers are you thinking?
What's the timing on your cylinder with a oem piston?

Also, the spikes are aftermarket, bent, welded, yuck!

I dont want big felling spikes on it.

Any recommendations?
The small factory 044 spikes should fit, but I find them to be pretty useless.

I found this in a different thread ... "the numbers are: 1117 664 0500 for the outer, and 1128 664 0500 for the inner.", but I'm not sure if those numbers are right.

I have the big 661 skeleton spikes on my 440 and my 064, and I really like them.

J, when you say you make a slot with a cutoff wheel, do you mean a cutting disk in an angle grinder?

Using a 288 piston in a high ex short bar saw in my opinion is not needed. Although you gain some port area with skirt width, why drop the jug just to raise the ex again?

You may be better off using a 660 piston and dropping the jug just far enough to cut a pop up. Keeping your transfers as tight as possible.

Yeah, I have had a think about the short bar thing and being realistic, if this thing goes like the others that have been built, I will likely ditch my 066 as I wont want to use a heavier saw with less power.

Short bar removed from title.

The 288 just doesn't give you port width, there's more benefit
