These saws aren’t as quick as the 1128 series, but they are nearly indestructible. More magnesium and steel in all the right places.

What’s the difference performance wise in a 044 vs 038 mag II. Both 72cc....

I was always under the impression, same saw except the 038MagII was heavier and built to last with its tank like qualities....

044 is faster, 038m's more grunt.
got both here. 044's 10mm.

The 038 is an older design, stock form it doesn’t spin as fast as an 044 but has great torque. It is heavier than an 044. There also isn’t (to my knowledge) any cyl upgrades, whereas you can hybrid an 046 cyl onto the 044.

I have ported two 038 Mag II and they are awesome ported! Never done a side by side comparison with a ported 044 though, so can’t speak to that comparison.

I have a 133 super, (3) 143 MX all running good bone stock. They won't let carry on anything with a bar over 32" LOL , I like the class of saws,But getting real hard to find parts . I still have 3- 143 NOS KS cylinders ,7- SEM ignition & flywheels . Try finding a MX plastic tank , handle , I have made the 2 can't find em
