A little acid in a controlled fashion doesn’t hurt for the initial/major transfer removal.

I always check with acid.
Perhaps Friday. Monday through Thursday are my busiest days

Acid works well to remove the bulk of the transfer. It also works well to tell you if there's any transfer left once you think you have it all removed

How do you apply it? With a rag? I got a clamshell jug that I need to remove some transfer. I don't have all tbe fancy tools like a fordum. Any suggestions on how to remove transfer by hand?

It foams up yellow in the presence of aluminum. It will lose strength after a minute or so, so you'll have to keep applying more, or at least keep moving around what's already there. Try and keep it away from aluminum you want keep
