STIHL 026 Air filters

Other than the wire mesh filters that only seem to be available in Canada, what is the best option for a replacement air filter for the older model Stihl 026 smaller air filters? No snorkle on carburetor. My dealer is telling me the nylon mesh filters are better than the yellowish fleece type filters. What do you use?

Last one I had I put an ms260 filter on it. Had to change the tank vent and filter cover.

They all suck! Get several and keep them in a rotation. I wash them inside and out. I have a gross picture at home on my PC that will prove my point. They just don't stop the fines from getting in.

the only thing I listen to from my dealer is part numbers....the rest I get from guys who actually run the equipment daily ....

Can't remember who or where but I remember a post on AS where a guy would split them and remove plastic from the internals.

I think you are talking about a drf ported saw. The flocked filter just isn't an option. The mesh ones are more of a screen than a filter.

I guess... Ask the Good Dr. What he thinks. Metal mesh may show up on ebay sometimes.

Let me check what I have. I know I have a metal mesh on the runner I have, but I think I may have another on the non-runner. I can't remember. I will take a trip to the shed now.

hell with an air filter, they're over rated. Just put two mix bottles in instead of one. Good to go.(don't try this at home)

When I was talking to Al @drf256 he said wire is best , nylon mesh is good, and fleece is no good !!
I spent the $40 for wire mesh ? On both 026 and 360 pro. fwiw
