Yep. In a padded envelope. Only took it about a week.

Never been a fan of screened filters -- seems you are opening yourself up to much more fines with it. Have owned more 1121 series saws than I can count.
In my opinion changing the tank vent, the filter cover and moving up to the winter type filter may be what the OP is searching for.

I have 3 older 026's with the small air filter covers. I think I just may get some of the metal mesh filters. It's what the Doc recommends.
Thanks for the info though.

What is the winter filter you speak of? I thought the metal mesh was the winter filter?

When I was talking to Al @drf256 he said wire is best , nylon mesh is good, and fleece is no good !!
I spent the $40 for wire mesh ? On both 026 and 360 pro. fwiw
Is the wire mesh that at keepimg fines out? Or just air flow superiority compared to the flock/ fleeced?

Ask around, I keep my saws crazy clean and this happened....You HAVE to split them and douche them out. I had been paint brushing this one and calling it good. Needless to say, I damn near soiled my trousers (Profanity Ban)IMG_1591.JPG
Same filter ten minutes earlier.....

I know it's better air flow which I needed for ported 360. But don't have much time on it to know ? I'm going to be watching and tear carbs down to see if fines are getting in ?
I'd guess in extremely dusty conditions you may want something more ?

But I know several that are running wire mesh. @dall

I would say if you're going to cut a bunch of FW, use a fleece and suffer the extra restriction (tune accordingly) Stihl gonna' be fun.

If you want to play in cants, or make vids, get a mesh and keep a damn close watch on it. Achilles' heal on this saw for sure.

I have a metal mesh on my MOFO 026. I actually wrap a thin landscape barrier mesh over it. It traps the fines better.
My filter looked a little like the one above. But I took it apart and cleaned it. Now I am much more aware. Lol
They are still good filters though. The metal mesh.
I will try and post a pic of the thin barrier tomorrow.

Just a thought, but maybe try pantyhose and a rubber band. That just sounds so wrong. o_O What forum am I on again?

Lol. That is basically what I do with this thin white sheer barrier. It seems to work well at trapping fines and still flowing air.
