I've used the fleece filters on the 026 for the last 20 plus years. Until I read this thread, I didn't know there was a problem. Guess I'll just keep doing what I was doing.
Lol. If it works, don't mess with it. [emoji106]

All my 026's are completely stock. Never felt the need to mess with them. Used one yesterday.

You owe it to yourself to at least try one that has been ported. Like a completely different saw. A thing of beauty.

I get that but I think they're already a pretty great saw. I've cut with well over 100 different chainsaws and have lots of options. If I need more power, I just grab a bigger saw. The 026 is a model that I will always have in my line up. I don't need it to be ported.

OK. But you don't know what you're missing. It will turn your great saw into an outstanding saw! For just a small investment.

If you were closer, I'd meet up with you to give it a try. Trust me, I know where you're coming from. Been there.

ported saws are a fad.
My fad has been going on since 1967, I have hardly owned any non ported saws. I have two now out of hundred or so that are not ported, yes they are still stock, a Stihl 362 and a John Deere 562 that are just for around home use. Not everyone likes the noise from ported saws.
