Can someone explain to me who the genius was behind these pumps? How do you know its in far enough and how do you know the port holes are lined up? Why didn't Stihl just put a flange on the pump and a groove in plastic to keep it lined up? Ive replaced these pumps in other saws but the 019T is extra difficult.

I've changed the pump in that model. Just put it in and see if it works. Mine still doesn't oil all that great but enough for my purposes. I only use it for climbing so rarely use more than a tankful in a day. I think Stihl makes a tool to set the depth but of course I don't have one of those...

I put a new one in. There was no certainty to the reinstall. I pushed it in till in enganged the worm gear but your never positive the holes are lined up. It wouldnt be a big deal if u didnt have to pull a 1/4 of the saw apart to reline it up if you got it wrong. Nice to see oil spew out when u put it back together.

You did use the arrow on the saw bottom to line it up I suppose? The way I set depth is to measure it before I pull the old one out. They still don't oil that well when everything is all right. I use the shortest bar I can get away with..
