I think the super had a bigger cylinder making it more super than the normal 034......good saws.

Yep ,that's what turned the table on it.

It is basically an 036 and I may end up keeping it if its in good nick.
I have 10+ hours of driving plus checking the saws..... its going to be a long day

by late 40's that could be different lol.
also start downloading a heap of SM's and IPL's of saws you may encounter . can come in very handy!

I second this.

I put a computer in my shop last fall and I have it loaded with thousands of IPL's and shop manuals along with Mediacat.

That computer is indispensable to me.

Its pretty good these days how you can push a few buttons and bam have a 100 page factory workshop service manual in front of you. I have them for all my saws, I particularly like the stihl pdf's. It makes things very easy. Even vintage saws where guys have taken the time to scan the original old w/shop manuals.....I even got one for my Contra Lightning!

Long day!

Drove almost 1000 Km's

The 090 has had a hard life but runs.
Its been dropped and has a hole in the top cover, front AV mount snapped off, crack in the rear handle where the top handle bar goes in and a dint in the base with a hair line fracture that leaks fuel.
ignition lead has come out of the spark plug boot, wire has broken out of the stop switch, and a small dint causing a small oil leak on the oil tank side.

All should be fixable.

It came with a box of spare parts which I have not sorted through yet but there is a lot of stuff in there.

NEXT!

I got this one for nothing.
It starts and runs.
The fella said he has a post hole borer on it.

There is something wrong with the throttle trigger as it wont rev up

Not sure what model it is, will clean it up and see if I can get a little bit of money for it.

Got a VERY nice 034 AV Super.
Looks to have done little work.
When I got in the car I told my wife it was a score as it looks perfect.

I kicked it up once home and it goes.
Boy does it go!
It would up to about 8000 rpm at idle and wouldn't shut down with the switch.

So here I am holding this saw that running with chain spinning, blowing smoke, and I could shut it down.

My wife cracked up and said......... Perfect hey???

Wont be anything serious.

It came with a big box fill of mixed tools, a pile of chains, a couple stuffed bars, a few old steel wedges, some good ear muffs, a bottle of old blue stihl oil, and Oregon stump vice and bar mount chain file guide, and the best score of the day..... a genuine orange Stihl carb adjusting screw driver :aaaaa:
I have always wanted one of these!

Oh, also came with a Stihl hard case

I will be honest, I am thinking of selling my 026 and keeping this........ and porting the hell out of it.

Last one i picked up today..... Stihl 076 AV
It has the tall cut off saw air filter cover and air filters fitted, and has a couple of the stock covers with it.
New muffler and muffler cover, and a few other choice bits have been replaced.

It spins but stops just before TDC so I would say there is something in the jug.
All the covers and bits are with it so will strip it down and fix her up.

Cant wait to run this beast.

I still have an 064 and the Husky 2100 to get.
Couldn't pick them up today.

I went and looked at a Husky 365 and old mate wanted too much money for it.

It ran but sounded like an old busted arse tractor and revved up slow.

He shut it down and i picked it up to start it. Pulled the cord and felt little resistance.
Gave it a rev and the bearings were very noisy, easily noticeable grinding noise over the noise of the saw.
Shut it down and did a cord drop test. Took 3 seconds to drop all the way.
He said "what is that supposed to prove?". I said, mate, its got no compression, runs like a dog, the bearings are shot and the decomp button is broken.
He said "well its got a good bar and chain". I said, mate the entire front of the bar is blue and purple meaning the bearing in the sprocket is stuffed and you have taken the rakers down so much the chain is stuffed.
The top cover was badly cracked, the front AV mount was broken or bent, then I noticed the tank was leaking a bit of fuel.

I offered him $50 and he got all upset at me so I just walked off and drove away.

That one was a land mine...... the only good bit was the handle

I have a mate who is worse.

He took up motor bike riding as a hobby and ended up as Australian superbike Champion.
Then he took up gunsmithing as a hobby and just look at what he now has set up as a business in his shed.
This is half of them and yes that is a restored WW1 Maxim machine gun down the end along with bren guns, etc etc.
