The piston acts as the valves in these engines, adding to the complexity.
The crown architecture aids in directing the incoming charge and outgoing exhaust.
It’s fascinating stuff. The piston wash is tough to decipher. Below is the piston wash on one of the best runners I have ever built. Makes no sense, as it looks SO wrong.

Hmm interesting, it could be actually the loop finishing right at the exhaust port before closing. If thats what it is, then it'll definitely run well. Mind sharing BD and CC of that setup?Mine are aimed at the intake side squishband. The wash looks looks a photo-negative of what a good wash should look like. The saw runs very well though.
