Spark screen question

Has anyone ever tried using different gauge screen on the muffler? I got some 304 stainless steel #20 .016" I'm going to try out. ..

Doesn't look like much restriction with that mesh, should keep most criders out too.

@Pioneer Perry The 20x20 .016 mesh has 46% open area, according to the McMaster-Carr site.

I don't know about better, but they have a lot of varying warp-and-weave/wire sizes/hole sizes/open areas listed.

I don't even use that fire screen crap. Ain't had a problem yet. If I do ya'all will hear about it. lol

Not that it probably matters much to this group but I thought I read somewhere that to work on government lands you had to have a spark arrestor. Do they restrict the screen size too?

Oh.......I use a more open mesh in my saws too.

I put all the mufler screens to the garbage . Tell me that i am wrong
