Exactly...that's why I never made any inference to it being a 'gal' position. There's plenty of 'know-nothing' boys filling the cubicles and desks right beside the little 'know-nothing' sweetcheeks.
I was referring to being worried about their manicures and pedicures...

i sold a mac pm 650 in excellent shape on ebay, the buyer contacts me and says he cant get it to run,no compression etc, demands his money back or else paypal dispute/bad feedback
I tell him, just send the saw back for a full refund
Saw arrives, same model, different saw,and yes,no comp piece of crap. the buyer kept mine and substituted his junker.
Paypal dispute ensues, buyer maintains he sent back the right saw,I lose.

When i sell a saw on ebay i sell it as parts or repair then there is no recourse on there part. I describe it as it is even if it's rebuilt i still
sell as parts or repair do to it being a vintage or a used saw.
Actually, I just found out there is. I sold a parts saw as is for parts or repair, no returns and the buyer requested his money back almost immediately. He sent the saw back and I had to return his money. All you have to say is "not as described" even if it is.

I've already started the process. This is virgin territory for me so I hope I do everything right. If I get nothing back, well thats what I'm expecting. Something will be a bonus. But the bar will show the chainsaw started and will show it ran for a long stretch, long enough to burn the clearcoat off of the bar. The handle will show it had very good compression, you don't break a good pull rope if it doesnt have any compression. Good compression means good chainsaw, its a crying shame I'm not dealing with somebody who understands how gasoline engines work.

Dealing with eBay or PayPal... It's all in who you talk to. If you get on the phone with some jerk that is giving you a hard way off the bat, hang up and call again.

Pictures are going to save you here, definitely document the missing estart handle etc. You may not get all of your money back that this guy cost you, but at least get some of it... The harder you make it on this cat to fraud you, maybe that will be a little deterrent for him, and maybe encourage him to take a different route with someone next time. Just my .02...

Now that sucks!! At least mine sent back the original saw, minus a few bits and pieces.

You know what Fellers ....this is a bit of a sad situation regarding what should be a really good way to sell and find stuff if it wasn't for the ones who cock it up for the rest of us.
I sell and buy a few things on Ebay in the UK and have a 100% rating . I have not been put in the crappy position Trooney and others here have but i get the sinking feeling it may be just a matter of time. Yea...iv had a few bum things that iv bought and it could be argued they sailed close to me having a claim against the seller but iv never gone that rout. Ebay offers me a way to reach the numbers of folks I need in day to day life to give me some sale's turnover that i would struggle to get.
I think the "Scam" is always going to be the one that is really really hard to see and that the scammer can hide behind Ebay and Paypal is a bitter pill indeed !!!! Im as careful as I can be but its always in my mind some A hole may be out there.
Not to worry, people scam the brick and mortar stores also...

Really sucks that this happened to you!

I'm not a big mover and shaker when it comes to buying and selling saws online. But after seeing what you went through, I would only sell online through forums like this one here. Ebay sucks with their bias against sellers. They are virtually an accomplice to theft for God's sake! Ebay is always my last resort as a BUYER. My preference is always my local dealer, along with members and vendors here before Ebay. I have shopped Chainsawr on occasion too... They have been good to me.

You have to wonder, will it get to the point that enough people quit selling on Ebay due to thievery that Ebay flops?? I hope so if they don't address their ridiculous stance...
